An option chain is a powerful tool for options traders, displaying all available options contracts for a particular stock or index at different strike prices and expiration dates. It helps traders analyse price direction and liquidity levels for specific strikes.
When you begin your options trading journey with Share India, you gain access to advanced tools like the option chain to help you plan your option trades better.
Components of an Option Chain
An option chain consists of several key elements that traders should understand:
Calls & Puts
- Call Options: Right to buy an asset at a specific price.
- Put Options: Right to sell an asset at a specific price.
- Share India’s platform allows easy tracking of both for better strategy building.
Strike Prices
- These are the predefined prices at which options contracts can be carried out.
- An option chain displays multiple strike prices, helping traders choose based on market conditions.
Expiry Date
- Options have an expiration date, after which they become worthless.
- Share India provides monthly expiry options.
Bid & Ask Price
- Bid Price: The highest price buyers are willing to pay.
- Ask Price: The lowest price sellers are willing to accept.
- A tighter bid-ask spread means higher liquidity.
Open Interest (OI)
- Shows the number of outstanding option contracts.
- High OI suggests strong market interest, making it a key indicator for traders.
Implied Volatility (IV)
- Reflects the expected price fluctuations of an asset.
- Higher IV means higher risk.
Last Traded Price (LTP)
- The most recent price at which the option was traded.
- Share India’s platform updates this data in real-time for better decision-making.
